ICFOSS is organizing a Workshop & Internship on Internet of
Things, aimed at initiating the creation of a workforce of young talent
that is updated on different aspects of IoT.
Overview
Internet of Things is considered as the next stage of the information
revolution and involves the inter-connectivity of 'things', which range
from urban transport to medical devices to household appliances. Some
of the recent surveys predict about 30 billion devices wirelessly
connected to Internet of Everything rising to 50 billion by 2020,
Applications of IoT include Environmental Monitoring, Infrastructure
Management, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Energy Management, Medical and
Healthcare Systems, Building and Home Automation, Transportation, and so
on.
Smart cities, many of which are planned in India, are expected to
drive IoT adoption in India. IoT is more than the Internet of Things, it
is about the Internet of Value, which arises from analytics derived out
of data collected from connected things. The value arises from cost
benefits from such networks, and new services that can be rolled out via
such configurations. Productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, risk
management and innovation are key value gains of IoT.
